A Home for Art in the Heart of the City
We are pleased to announce the launch of the Burnsville Performing Arts Center Project. A focal point of Burnsville’s “Heart of the City,” the Center will provide a home for theatre, music, and dance; hosting both regional and national acts. AKA began this project in 2006 with a feasibility study that developed a building program, budget, and conceptual design for the performing arts center. Central to the study was to provide the Burnsville City Council with options: good, better, and best. From these options emerged a unique vision to create a cultural hub—a performing arts center that will become a key destination in the heart of the region.
Set for completion in late 2008, the Center will feature a 1,000-seat theater, a black box theater, gallery area, scene shop, rehearsal space, and business offices. Adjacent to Burnsville’s Nicollet Commons Park, the Center’s meeting and banquet rooms will be the ideal location for community gatherings, wedding receptions, and corporate events.
