Washington County South Service Center

Recently completed, the South Service Center has an extraordinary location, surrounded by the Cottage Grove Ravine Regional Park. Critical to this project was AKA’s development of a master plan to determine the building site and to establish a new parkway through the site; connecting it to a proposed city campus across the ravine. In addition to the Service Center, the master plan includes a potential city hall and police station; a community center; a potential library; and park trail head buildings.
AKA incorporated the B3 Guidelines into the design of the South Service Center, utilizing durable natural materials including brick, Minnesota limestone, and zinc metal cladding. Other sustainable elements include rain gardens with native plantings for stormwater management and daylighting with large expanses of glass. The Center will provide space for up to 79 county employees, including those from Community Services, Community Corrections, Public Health and Environment, among other departments.
