Bloomington Civic Plaza
Bloomington, MN Completed
on time and under budget, Bloomington Civic Plaza is a distinctive,
welcoming facility that reflects the community. With Bloomington’s
motto “built from savings, dedicated to service” as its guide,
the multi-purpose plaza opened its doors to the community
in July 2003. The Plaza includes Bloomington
City Hall, Bloomington
Police Facility, and the Bloomington
Center for the Arts, creating a civic campus setting for
efficient delivery of city services.
Sustainability was a key aspect of the design
of the Plaza. AKA and our consultants completed the Energy
Design Assistance program to identify building systems that
reduce energy consumption and operational costs by maximizing
equipment efficiencies, utilizing daylighting, and improving
indoor air quality. The site was also designed to include
storm water management as an amenity.
