Legacy Park Community Center

The cornerstone of the park, the Legacy Park Community Center
provides a full complement of recreational spaces and its
design reflects the craftsman style of the pre-existing
park structures. Recreational amenities include: a gymnasium,
racquetball courts, fitness and aerobics spaces, leisure and
lap pools, banquet and community rooms, meeting and party
room, and childcare area, as well as parks and recreation
department offices. The attractive natatorium looks out over
a nearing pond with a sun deck connecting the indoor water
play with the outdoor water activities. The rustic stone,
natural copper and concrete materials used throughout the
facility were carefully selected to fit the natural character
of the site and to reinforce the architectural statement.
The
planning process for the building involved intensive discussion
on efficient operation and client experience. Every effort
was made to ensure that patrons have a clear understanding
of the building; feel welcomed to the center, and enjoy
their activity. The design team also thoroughly investigated
the staffing requirements inherent to design decisions in
order to minimize operational costs in the future.
